Activities

Administrative Functions

  • Manage the Human Talent assigned to its Unit, in accordance with current procedures, participating in the selection, training, advice, and coordination processes; delegating the authority and management necessary for the performance of its functions and responsibilities; and monitoring their efficient performance.
  • Evaluate the performance of the personnel in charge, in accordance with current regulations and procedures.
  • Formulate timely training plans for the personnel of the Unit, as a result of problems identified in evaluation processes or the continuous analysis of the Unit.
  • Comply with the disciplinary actions that correspond to it by the provision of the Single Disciplinary Regulations and other rules of the University.
  • Comply with and enforce the regulations, policies, rules, and procedures in force in the processes corresponding to the area of responsibility, as well as the policies and general provisions emanating from the Superior Council and the General Directorate, in search of the achievement of the Institutional Mission.
  • Enforce the norms and standards designed to control and guarantee the performance of the Unit, leading the planning, direction, evaluation, and control processes.
  • Prepare and recommend improvements in the policies, standards, and systems of its area of responsibility, in coherence with the institutional guidelines.
  • Develop and direct the Annual Management Program of the Unit, preparing and managing the improvement projects and investment projects necessary for the achievement of the proposed goals and managing the means to control and evaluate their results.
  • Prepare the budget of the Unit, in accordance with the institutional guidelines on planning and budgeting, and respond for the control and good management of the approved budget, programming and administering the financial resources that correspond to it efficiently and with institutional criteria.
  • Exercise the controls that ensure the correct use and proper conservation of the assets of the University in charge of its Unit, verifying its existence, identification, status, and complying with the actions that correspond to it.
  • Carry out the management related to the subscription, award, and settlement of contracts and other administrative acts, in accordance with the relevant rules.
  • Coordinate and provide, consistently and permanently, to the Institutional Information Systems, the data required by the academic and administrative processes.
  • Advance or execute the contracting actions, in accordance with current regulations, when acting as a contractual representative of the University, by virtue of the delegations granted by the Rector.
  • Prepare and present the reports that are requested and related to the information in charge of your Unit.
  • Ensure that the Integrated Management System maintains its dynamics within the Unit.

Information Functions

  • Keep the staff in charge informed about the policies, regulations, decisions, rules, and general procedures of the University, emphasizing those that are directly related to their functions and responsibilities.
  • Maintain permanent communication flows that allow adequate information and knowledge throughout the University Community and its environment, of the services offered by the Unit.
  • Keep your immediate boss informed about the operation of the

Unity, in accordance with the policies, regulations, decisions, rules, and general procedures of the University.

Support Functions

  • Support programs of institutional interest that require the initiative and management capacity of different Units, for the achievement of their objectives and goals of institutional management.
  • Participate in the design, orientation, and development of policies, objectives, goals, and strategies for the operation and institutional action.

Specific Functions

  • Implement in the respective Faculty strategies and programs that guide and promote the quality and relevance of research and extension activities.
  • Design and execute strategies for the growth and consolidation of research groups and teams that carry out extension work in the Faculty.
  • Articulate the academic capabilities of its Faculty to the external demands of advisory services, consulting, scientific research, technological development, and innovation.
  • Manage, monitor, and evaluate research projects with internal funding of the respective Faculty and submit periodic reports to the Dean of the Faculty and the Vice-Rector for Research and Extension.
  • Carry out adequate dissemination of the research and extension activity of the Faculty.
  • Advise the teachers and students of the Faculty in the presentation of research proposals.

Responsibilities:

Expenditure Management and Value Management:

Responsible for the management of expenditures of the unit’s budgetary funds. Expenditure authorizing officers are responsible disciplinarily, fiscally, and criminally for failing to comply with the provisions of the UIS Budget Statute.

Custody and Management of Tangible Assets:

Responsible for the custody and proper use of the movable property under his charge and all other elements used for the proper functioning of his Unit.

Custody and Management of Intangible Assets and Records in Institutional Systems:

Responsible for intangible assets, such as specialized software, inside information, registrations, patents, and intellectual production of researchers placed under its custody for respective procedures; recorded in the inventory delivered for use and correct use

administration of the information manipulated in the exercise of its work.

Responsible for the records made in the Institutional Information Systems corresponding to its Unit, according to the procedures established by the University.

Safety, Occupational Health, Environment, and Quality:

Responsible for complying with the Safety, Occupational Health, Environment, and Quality policies and procedures approved by the University, and for reporting and verifying their compliance by third parties (visitors or contractors under their supervision).
