In addition, it is considered important to highlight the effort of the groups to consolidate training for research with the creation and institutional recognition of 38 research seedbeds in the Faculty of Human Sciences.
In terms of social projection, members of the academic community of the Faculty of Human Sciences have led high-impact projects. An example of this is the creation of the Oral Archive of Memory of the Victims, led by Professor Ivonne Suárez Pinzón, from the School of History; and the participation of Professor Alexandra Cortés, from the School of Economics and Administration and Professor Gonzalo Ordóñez, from the School of Education, in the Bucaramanga Metropolitana Cómo Vamos program, led by the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce.
As activities of social projection that are carried out from the Faculty, the existence of teaching practice, social practice, the Legal Office and Conciliation Center, music extension courses and the Pedagogical Accreditation program are highlighted. In the case of teaching practice, there are 21 agreements for the realization of internships for all undergraduate students of the University, established only with educational institutions of the public sector. In 2017, the Office served a total of 5,478 users. On the other hand, there are music extension courses, which are offered to the regional community, and formed in the second semester of 2017, a total of 189 students. Finally, there is the Pedagogical Accreditation program for non-licensed professionals, attached to the School of Education and which has, in the first semester of 2018, 49 students.

In terms of social projection, the organization of the Athletic Race of the University stands out, which had 3,800 participants in its XXVII version carried out in 2017, as well as the administration of the UIS Gymnasium and the sports scenarios.
For its part, the Institute of Languages offers as its main service formal education courses (curricular program) and non-formal (extension program) in different languages: English, Portuguese, French and Italian. The Language Institute attended, during the second semester of 2017, a total of 3,162 students of the university in the curricular programs. Additionally, in 2017, the Institute served 4,317 students in extension programs.
It is important to highlight the regionalization work that has been carried out by the Faculty. As a high-impact project is the offer of the Master’s Degree in Pedagogy at the headquarters of Barrancabermeja and Socorro, while the Specialization in Public Management is offered at the UIS Socorro headquarters.
Based on the strengths described and the challenges posed by society, the Faculty of Human Sciences plans to consolidate itself in the offer of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs, carry out relevant research, which achieves social appropriation of knowledge and execute extension activities that allow it to contribute to the resolution of social problems.
