Privacy Policy – UIS Mobile Application
1. Purpose of Data Processing
The UIS mobile application is an institutional platform designed to provide secure access to academic, financial, and administrative information for the university community. Personal data is used for the following purposes:
Enable user authentication with two-factor verification (2FA).
Display academic information (class schedules, grades).
Display financial information (debts, pending payments).
Display employment-related information from certificates issued by the General Directorate of Human Talent (DGTH).
Provide a personalized and secure experience within the application.
2. Personal Data Collected
The application may access the following personal data of the user, obtained through the institutional systems of UIS:
Full name
Institutional ID number
Institutional email address
Academic information: class schedules, grades
Financial information: debts and account status
Employment certificates issued by the DGTH
3. Legal Basis for Processing
The processing of data is based on:
The prior, informed, and express consent of the data subject
The exercise of legitimate functions of the University as a public institution of higher education
The provision of institutional services to the university community
Compliance with current legal obligations
4. Information Security
UIS has implemented technical and administrative measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or modification. Access to the application is secured through institutional credentials and two-factor authentication (2FA).
The user is also responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials and ensuring the secure use of their device.
Device Permissions
The UIS mobile application does not request or access the device’s camera, location, or storage. It only requires:
Internet access permission (to connect to institutional systems)
Biometric authentication permission (if the user chooses to use this feature as a means of access)
6.We do not Share your Data
UIS does not sell, rent, or exchange personal data with third parties. The information processed in the application is used exclusively for institutional purposes. Data is only shared when there is a legal obligation or with technology providers contracted under confidentiality and personal data processing agreements, strictly to ensure the operation of the service.
7. Data Subjects' Rights
The user, as the data subject, may exercise the following rights:
Access, update, and correct their personal data
Request proof of the consent given
Be informed about the use of their data
Revoke consent and/or request the deletion of their data, provided there is no legal or contractual obligation preventing it
File complaints with the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (Superintendence of Industry and Commerce)

8. Data Retention
The information displayed by the application is not permanently stored on mobile devices. Personal data is retained in accordance with institutional policies and current regulations, only for the time necessary to fulfill the previously stated purposes.
9.Changes to this Policy
The University may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated through the application and/or the institutional website. Continued use of the application implies acceptance of such modifications.
10. Jurisdiction and Applicable Law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with the current Colombian regulations.
