Our
Vision
GIFTEX is a multidisciplinary group that develops studies in different areas of fundamental and applied physicochemistry. In fundamental physicochemistry, our interest lies mainly in understanding how different electrostatic and dispersive interactions combine to produce phenomena such as adsorption, diffusion and catalysis in nanoporous, inorganic and biological materials. In the area of applied physicochemistry, our group synthesizes new nanocomposite materials and develops analytical and computational methods to understand and test the mechanisms of adsorption, diffusion and catalysis with these materials.

Currently, our research group is synthesizing nano-structured biocomposite materials that are useful in the catalytic transformation of dyes in industrial wastewater. At the same time, nanostructured materials useful in the selective removal of sulfur compounds in petroleum distillates are being synthesized. Recently, our group is developing nano-structured materials with application in the oil industry, such as surfactant materials, from nano-fibers and cellulose nano-crystals. Our research results show that these materials are highly efficient and 100% environmentally friendly.
