ABOUT THE

Program

The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) offers its Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering under the research modality as a response to the needs of the region and the country in terms of postgraduate studies in this field of knowledge.

The purpose of the Master’s Degree is to train professionals with the necessary skills to design and implement research in the areas of energy, environment and sustainability, dynamic systems, multiphysics dynamics, micro and nanosystems, bioengineering, biomaterials, control, robotics, design and manufacturing processes.

The institution has modern technological and bibliographic resources, as well as a highly qualified teaching staff that support the formal educational research program.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed and signed UIS application form.

  • Resume in the UIS institutional format, along with certificates and copies of documents supporting the information provided.

  • Copy of a valid identity document recognized in Colombia or a valid passport for foreign applicants.

  • Recent passport-style photo, preferably in digital format, white background, 3×4 cm.

  • Copy of the diploma or graduation certificate for the undergraduate degree required by the program, issued by a recognized higher education institution (IES) in Colombia.

    • Note: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be properly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. Degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Colombia if the applicant intends to pursue a master’s degree in health, law, or any other area regulated by national standards requiring this administrative action.

  • Certificate of grades obtained during the undergraduate program, including the weighted average.

    • Note: Graduates from the undergraduate program at the Industrial University of Santander do not need to provide this document.

  • Payment receipt issued by the UIS treasury for the current application fee or deposit slip for payment into the authorized UIS account.

  • If determined by the advisory committee, proof of reading comprehension and written production in Spanish, with a certificate of approval issued by the UIS School of Languages.

    • Note: The cost of the certification or test is not included in the postgraduate program application fee.

  • For research master’s programs, certification of a foreign language level equivalent to or higher than A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), based on a standardized test or issued by the UIS Language Institute.

    • Note: This certification is not required for native speakers of a foreign language or for those who have obtained their university degree in a foreign language, as described in the corresponding documents.

  • Payment receipt issued by the UIS treasury for the current fee of the psychotechnical test (if required) or deposit slip for payment into the authorized accounts.

  • Two (2) confidential academic reference letters, in sealed envelopes, sent directly to the postgraduate coordination, using the form established by UIS.

  • For research master’s programs: an endorsement letter from a UIS research group or center, or from a scientific institution with an active agreement, signed by the director, presenting the applicant to the program.
