The School of History of the Universidad Industrial de Santander is a reference point in the field of historical studies in Colombia. It emerged as the Instituto Superior de Historia de Colombia (1969-1980). In 1987, the History program was created, which in 2013 became the Undergraduate Degree in History and Archives. The Master’s Degree in History was created in 1993; the PhD in History, in 2016, and the Master’s Degree in Social Research Methods and Techniques in 2018. With these programs, the professors of the School of History train their students so that, as graduates, they contribute significantly to the research and dissemination of historical knowledge; to the preservation of documentary and cultural heritage, and to the strengthening of historical memory processes, contributing to a more democratic, deliberative and pluralistic society, committed to justice, social equity, environmental preservation and good living.
