The road to
Excellence
The School of Social Work is an academic unit consolidated in its area of knowledge that has national and international recognition given its trajectory of more than fifty years of academic development. It currently offers two programs: The Undergraduate Social Work and the Master’s Degree in Social Intervention.
The Social Work program of the Industrial University of Santander, was created in 1963, at that time originated as an academic unit attached to the Universidad Femenina de Santander (UFS). Three years later, when the “UIS-UFS” Integration was carried out through Superior Agreement No. 17 of September 27, 1966, this program, together with others in the area of health, are incorporated by the UIS and in this way the seed of the current Faculties of Human Sciences and Health emerges. In the UIS begins with students in 1967 and has its first formal registration through Resolution 0873 of April 10 of 1968 issued by the Ministry of National Education.
The undergraduate program has 480 students approx. The Master’s program has 47students.

National Council for Social Work Education
National Council for Social Work Education is an organization of private law and academic character, constituted by the Social Work Teaching Units of Colombia, committed to improving the quality of education in Social Work, with the purpose of achieving the formation of Social Workers with excellent professional performance, high academic level, motivated to achieve integral human development and capable of leading processes of change.
National Council of Social Work
The National Council of Social Work is the institution that issues the professional registry and hears and punishes complaints filed for professional misconduct (Articles 6 and 8 of Law 53 of 1977).
