• To contribute to the theoretical-conceptual definition and applied research on “Regional Development and Territorial Planning”, through the formulation of specific projects.

• To define viable scenarios that make possible the configuration of regions.

• To establish a tradition in research on regional issues, as a fundamental contribution to the development of the region and the University.

• To establish strategic alliances with national and international research centers and groups in order to discuss the group’s results with the scientific community.

The Research Group on Regional Development and Territorial Planning (GIDROT) will be a great dynamizer of knowledge about the region, based on solid theoretical and methodological assumptions and incorporating historical aspects and cultural idiosyncrasies, from a holistic and integrated perspective and through the exercise of a critical reflection about the prospects for regional development in the medium and long term.
