APPLICANT
Profile
The doctorate in Philosophy is aimed at professionals in philosophy and professionals from any other area of knowledge. It is understood that knowledge and philosophical dialogue is not a monopoly of those who have previously had a background in the area, as philosophical debates are enriched when participants from multiple disciplines are held. This is why the doctorate is designed for every professional who wants to develop, at a postgraduate level, his critical and reflective thinking, applied to local, regional, national and global problems of political philosophy and law, philosophy and literature and technological civilization. Of course, any aspiring philosopher of training or not is expected to have the knowledge and philosophical skills needed for a doctorate program in philosophy. This will be especially evaluated in the resume, knowledge exam and interview.
GRADUATE
Profile
The graduate of the doctorate in Philosophy will have the capabilities of an autonomous critical and analytical researcher capable of participating in regional, national and international academic, scientific and cultural debates; all this within the framework of the personal and professional competences achieved in the development of the doctoral training process, which, assumed from a comprehensive and complex perspective, point to the following:
- Develop a rigorous ability to read classical, modern and contemporary philosophical texts with a view to the production of texts written in the field of their line of research in connection with the other lines of the doctorate.
- Act in a thoughtful and critical manner with a view to exercising the social function of intellectual through the argument supported in a solid academic background and with competence to access up-to-date sources of information relevant to scientific and social interests.
- Develop an ability to develop complex forms of critical thinking and interrelate around philosophical or interdisciplinary problems, especially related to doctorate research lines.
- Analyse the problems of the surrounding social reality, with the ability to recognize and interpret the cross-cutting issues of all social phenomena, such as the search for meaning, social representations, the complexity of sociocultural practices and the relationship of human beings with the environment.
- Generate scenarios and intellectual products of collective and group work, within the framework of moral and legal duties and rights, which allow the understanding of the social reality of sociocultural environments by scientific communities and by actors that affect social dynamics.
- Propose, structure and develop research projects in the area of philosophy, the humanities, the social sciences and, in general, in all those cases where a critical and thoughtful analyst is required.
- Produce texts (essays, critical and analytical reviews, articles, among others) showing a high degree of philosophical conceptualization applied to disciplinary or interdisciplinary problems.
LABOR
Field
The doctorate will be a space in which all the scientific knowledge and discourses of the university (exact sciences, engineering, health sciences and social and human sciences) can be found to discuss common problems and interests, while emphasizing the relevance of philosophy to the configuration of a democratic, just and inclusive Colombian society and oriented towards the preservation of real democracy and the promotion of human rights as guarantees building an enduring peace. In this way, the doctorate in Philosophy seeks to ensure that professionals from all areas of knowledge benefit from a study space in which they can achieve a greater understanding of the philosophical foundations of their respective knowledge and interrelate their disciplinary knowledge with the other areas of knowledge, in order to achieve more omni-comprehensive visions of problems.
