ABOUT THE
Program
The School of Social Work of the Universidad Industrial de Santander presents its Master’s program in Social Intervention, which seeks to train professionals for the interdisciplinary construction of social intervention with the highest levels of quality. In this perspective the Master’s Degree in Social Intervention opens with three lines of research intervention:
- Community intervention and construction.
- Gender, body, and culture.
- Family and social networks.

The Master’s Program in Social Intervention of the Universidad Industrial de Santander is oriented by a socio-critical epistemological vision, understanding that the intervener is not neutral, because he is immersed in values, in a perspective or not of the rights of equality, freedom or fraternity (Lorente, 2007); in relation to the change that the action of intervening provokes, inevitably falls into the perspectives of a model of society to which it aspires to reach, in counterweight to exclusion and with the goal of the integration of people and groups into it. Therefore, this Program aims to question the rationalist dichotomy typical of the positivist and analytical empirical paradigm, in which practice and theory are split, so a dialectical aspect of the continuum research-intervention, inter-intervention research / investigated intervention (Méndez, 2015) is proposed.
