The Department of Basic Sciences of the School of Medicine is composed of multidisciplinary professionals with, high level of training who support the teaching, research, and extension of the Universidad Industrial de Santander. It offers teaching services to the different schools of health faculty. Within the training programs, it offers the programs of the Master’s Degree in Biomedical Basic Sciences and the Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences. The research carried out within the department focuses on health problems affecting the Colombian and global populations; the appropriation of knowledge by the community by offering specialized tests for the diagnosis of pathologies; and highly competent human resource training to generate new knowledge through scientific research.
