The comprehensive training of a physician requires an understanding of the health process, which includes various factors that can contribute to the generation of a state of well-being or, on the contrary, a state of suffering; for this reason, the field of knowledge of psychiatry could be compared to a border where different theories must pass in order to facilitate the understanding of mental disorders.

In this sense, the doctor graduated from our program, in addition to the solid biological approach, it should take into account psychological aspects of personality and take into account the family and social context, because the experiences accumulated in the life trajectory can promote the development of the potential and skills that people need to achieve the goals proposed in their life project and actively contribute to the construction of society, or instead become an obstacle that generates frustration and high levels of stress precipitating progression to a mental disorder.

In this way, the goal of the Mental Health Department is to provide the medical student with an integrative vision that allows him to approach mental health problems from different perspectives, contrasting the major theories that allow him to creatively seek and support scientific rigor solutions to the most relevant problems at the individual and collective levels.
