One of our main challenges is to promote translational research in chronic noncommunicable diseases in the country, by providing inputs in the form of valuable preclinical data to clinical researchers. These data consist of: (i) the detection and identification of early biomarkers and/or new risk factors for complex diseases and (ii) the complete description of the effects of different molecules of natural origin, synthetic, semi-synthetic or combinations of these with conventional drugs, on metabolism, cellular redox homeostasis, cell viability and physiological function in different pathological models.
