Educational Renewal of Internal Medicine (GERMINA)

Health Faculty

Minciencias Classification : C

The changes that have occurred globally in the field of medicine have led various groups to consider modifications in medical education, particularly in its fundamental component, research. As a result, medical schools are initiating curricular reforms, with varying degrees of progress, aimed at increasing or improving social relevance, learning capacity, effective use of free time, clinical competence—particularly in clinical reasoning—ethics, comprehensiveness, and management skills across different areas. These reforms emphasize the importance of generating research questions that emerge from medical practice or during pre- and postgraduate training, with the goal of seeking solutions or alternatives that contribute to true learning, ultimately serving the community to which the profession is accountable. This context gave rise to the group for the educational renewal of Internal Medicine, which leads the transformation of teaching and learning processes, and strengthens and mediates research and science in adult health within our region, our country, and in connection with the rest of the world.
