Specialists in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation must be comprehensive physicians, able to adequately treat patients in any of the current disciplines or circumstances or those that may be incorporated in the future by complementing and expanding them with a humanistic character and always based on ethical principles.

The human, scientific, technical, and social characteristics that Anesthesiologists must possess to fully comply with their professional practice are as follows:
Ability to establish communication and empathy with the patient, their families, and other members of the team that handles the patient, with a view to achieving adequate psychological, clinical, and pharmacological preparation for anesthesia, surgery, or other medical events in which they must intervene.
Capability to assess patients undergoing surgical procedures and diagnoses, as well as define and intervene on the risks to which the patient is exposed.
Skill, safety, and effectiveness in the management of anesthetic, analgesic, and resuscitation techniques, together with the ability to perform the medical treatment of underlying pathological entities or situations that complicate the anesthetic act, seek the integral preservation of the organic functioning of the same during surgery and post-operative.
Ability and dexterity to perform immediate resuscitation measures that achieve the restoration of vital signs and the state of consciousness of the patient undergoing surgery or in different clinical situations in which cardiorespiratory functions are terminated.
Motor and intellectual prowess to promptly diagnose the abnormalities inherent in the anesthetic act, trauma, and clinical conditions that endanger the patient's life and to try to manage them with the least morbidity possible, avoiding permanent sequela.
Ability to diagnose and manage acute respiratory, renal and metabolic cardiovascular problems, as well as other vital systems that threaten the patient's life.
Motor and cognitive knowledge and skills for the management of acute and chronic pain in critical patients, either inside or outside the operating room, by applying techniques or pharmacological therapy.
Ability to correctly manage invasive and non-invasive monitoring equipment and techniques, allowing you to closely monitor and care for the patient either inside or outside the operating room.
Basic knowledge of patient management in the event of a disaster, individual or collective, small or large, with the development of leadership attitudes that allow them to participate as a member of the team as the team's director.
Knowledge, attitude, and skills for research development, either individually or as part of research groups.
Motivation towards research activities, planning, organization, and participation in scientific teaching programs.
Ability to handle the concept of Teacher-Assistance integration.
Ability to strictly comply with ethical standards in your professional practice.

Field

The specialist in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation can function as a professional trained to work and perform appropriately in anesthesia inside and outside Operating Rooms in health institutions enabled for this purpose. Anesthesia for outpatient surgery and hospital patients of different levels of complexity. Trained to resolve critical situations in sick patients arriving in operating rooms or providing support in Intensive Care Units in hospital institutions, with the skills and skills to serve as an administrator or manager of surgical areas.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
  • Resume, it has to be done in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of the certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
  • Photocopy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
  • Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
  • Photocopy of the diploma or photocopy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized HEI in Colombia.
    • Notice 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The degrees must be validated by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional de la República.
  • Certificate of grades obtained during undergraduate studies in Medicine, with the mention of the weighted average and the inclusion of information about the year of internship.
    • Notice 2: If this document is issued in a foreign language, it must be duly translated into Spanish.
    • Notice 3: It is not necessary to provide this document in the case of alumni with undergraduate degrees obtained at Universidad Industrial de Santander.
  • Professional medical card or resolution issued by the Ministry of Health, which authorizes him/her to practice medicine in the national territory, after registration with the Santander Health Secretariat.
  • Certification of foreign language level equivalent to or higher than level A1 according to the CEFR for languages, according to standardized test or issued by the UIS Language Institute.
    • Notice 4: This certification will not be required for those applicants who are native speakers of a foreign language or who have obtained a university degree in a foreign language, according to the description of such studies in the corresponding documents.
  • Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
