ABOUT THE
Program
The Master’s Degree in Epidemiology has contributed to the training of human talent in Santander, favoring the consolidation of epidemiological research in the region and in the country through the Universidad Industrial de Santander as a strategy to comply with one of its institutional policies, among them, that of social responsibility contemplated in the Institutional Project. “It is about fully assuming the public condition of the University to respond to the national need for training of high quality and relevance, generating within it the knowledge, attitudes and innovative practices that allow thinking and transforming the country and the region with an ethical sense and political responsibility.”
The Master’s Degree in Epidemiology in its years of operation has been strengthening mechanisms for the prevention, control, diagnosis and treatment of diseases prevalent in our environment, providing solutions to problems related to public health in developing countries.

APPLICANT
Profile
As approved by the University and the corresponding national authorities, they can aspire to the Master’s program in Epidemiology professionals in the area of human and animal health, as well as other areas or careers related to public health, graduates of Colombian universities recognized by the State, as well as foreign universities. In the latter case, they must validate the title in accordance with the provisions of the ICFES. No prior work experience is required.
Professionals from other areas with experience in the health sector may be presented to the admission process. However, your case will be discussed in the Program Advisory Committee.

The program graduates stand out for their excellent training in quantitative research, complex data management, and analysis, scientific writing ability, and skill in formulating research proposals. This is how a professional of excellent human and technical qualities will be given to society, with ethical foundations that will be successfully performed as an Epidemiologist in health services, as a teacher, or as a researcher.

The Master’s Program in Epidemiology will contribute to training in health professionals of the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and practices required for successful performance in the face of the new landscape of professional exercise by providing conceptual, methodological, and instrumental elements in the areas of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Research. It also prepares it for successful performance as a researcher, which independently formulates and tests hypotheses in order to expand epidemiological knowledge that serves as the basis for the definition of public health policies. In addition, the program provides you with the foundation for your proper teaching performance, specifically in the area of epidemiology.

| Note 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The titles must be validated before the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Colombia in case the applicant is going to pursue a master’s degree in the area of health, law or another that is regulated by national regulations that make this administrative act enforceable.
Note 2: In the case of undergraduate graduates at the UIS it is not necessary to provide it.
Note 3: This certification will not be required of applicants who speak natives of a foreign language or who have obtained a university degree in a foreign language, as described in the corresponding documents.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
Resume, in institutionally established UIS format, certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
Copy of valid identity document in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
Recent document-type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
Copy of the diploma or copy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by an HEI recognized in Colombia.
Note 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The titles must be validated before the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Colombia in case the applicant is going to pursue a master’s degree in the area of health, law or another that is regulated by national regulations that make this administrative act enforceable.
Certificate of the grades obtained during the undergraduate, with a weighted average equal to or greater than three point fifty (3.50), and those of the research or deepening master’s programs that have been carried out.
Note 2: In the case of undergraduate graduates at the UIS it is not necessary to provide it.
Receipt of payment issued by the treasury of the UIS for the current value of the registration or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
For research master’s degrees, certification of foreign language level equivalent to or higher than level A1 according to the CEFR for languages, according to standardized test or issued by the Institute of Languages of the UIS.
Note 3: This certification will not be required of applicants who speak natives of a foreign language or who have obtained a university degree in a foreign language, as described in the corresponding documents.
Receipt of payment, issued by the treasury of the UIS, for the current value of the psychotechnical test (if required) or receipt of consignment in the authorized accounts.
Two (2) letters of academic reference, confidential, in sealed envelopes, sent directly to the postgraduate coordination, according to the form established by the UIS.
