Deyanira Corzo Cárdenas
Pediatric instructor at Harvard Medical School
Graduated from the UIS School of Medicine – She is currently Director of Global Medical Affairs of a major multinational pharmaceutical company. Pediatric instructor at Harvard Medical School and physician at the Children’s Hospital Clinic of Genetics in Boston, USA.
Deyanira Corzo Cárdenas is an expert worldwide geneticist, she was part of a scientific team that developed a drug to treat the rare Pompe disease. For this outstanding Santander scientist, chosen by Mass High Tech magazine as one of the 10 women in the world to admire in 1997, “everything is genetic” and she assures that it is not an exaggeration, because “it can explain how living organisms work”; He adds, “At first glance, it seems impossible to even understand the basics, but as you work hard and learn more, what seemed complex becomes beautifully simple.”

German Gamarra Hernández
Academic Vice President of the National Academy of Medicine of Colombia.
Graduated from the School of Medicine – He is currently the Academic Vice President of the National Academy of Medicine of Colombia.
Doctor, graduated in 1975 from the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), with CUM LAUDE distinction. Specialist in Internal Medicine and Nephrology from the Central Military Hospital (Universidad del Rosario) and Magister in Clinical Epidemiology from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
Professor of Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the UIS for 29 years, where he achieved the category of Full Professor with the distinction “Laureate”. He was director of the Department of Internal Medicine, the Nephrology Unit, and the kidney transplant medical team at the Ramón González Valencia University Hospital in Bucaramanga. He was also Director of the Office of Medical Education, of the Department of Internal Medicine, Vice-dean, and Dean of the Faculty of Health of the Industrial University of Santander.

Sergio Fernando Perea Baustista

Graduated from the School of Medicine – Creator and director of the Dr. Chocolate Social Foundation.
He graduated as a UIS doctor and surgeon in 2011. He defines his professional approach as preventive. He has extensive experience in the design of community health projects and has developed technical knowledge in radio locution, graphic and web design, tools that allow him to strengthen the direction of his foundation.
Among the awards and recognitions obtained by him and the Doctor Chocolate Foundation are the recognition of social work awarded by the School of Medicine of the Industrial University of Santander in December 2009, Caballero Kiwanis Horizontes in 2010, award of the Hospital children the Universidad de Santander in 2010, Person of the Year in Santander in 2010, awarded by the newspaper Vanguardia Liberal and nominated for the Best Leaders of Colombia Award 2012 led by the Fundación Liderazgo y Democracia and the Semana Magazine.
