The Research Group in Agricultural Sciences and Ecology (GICAE) develops research projects focused on generating technologies for the agricultural sector. GICAE is composed of an interdisciplinary team with the expertise to conduct research and create technologies that maximize their capabilities. This approach enables the exploration of areas with high potential in the region, such as agricultural production, the provision of ecosystem services, ecotourism, renewable energy generation, and more. The group prioritizes strategies that uphold food sovereignty in communities, integrate production systems, protect biodiversity and the environment, and mitigate climate change.

The research group possesses the necessary tools for applied research and is continually innovating in the pursuit of technologies that align with its institutional mission. The group currently operates laboratories, maintains permanent plots in various forests, and has established agreements with productive properties and private nature reserves. These resources enable a deeper engagement with each of the group’s research lines.
