From July 4 to 8, the Universidad Industrial de Santander will hold the Summer School “Bridging the gap between Design and Computing: A User Experience (UX) approach”, which aims to train the students of the School of Systems Engineering and Industrial Design in work trends around the user experience and the design and development of technological products.

This meeting is directed by teachers Lola Bautista and Luis Eduardo Bautista, from the aforementioned schools, respectively, and is possible thanks to the support of the Office of Foreign Relations UIS and Icetex. In this opportunity we have the participation of Nick Hine, professor and coordinator of the Master’s Degree in User Experience at the University of Goldsmiths, London, who accredits extensive experience in carrying out projects that involve technology and development for end users.

The theme of this Summer School is “Bridging the gap between Design and Computing”, that is, closing the gap between UX Design (User Experience) and Computing. Currently, for the development of software products, multidisciplinary teams are required, who must work collaboratively to carry out the project. However, the relationship between the UX/UI designer, who is in charge of designing the user interface, and the software developer is essential.

This course has been oriented to students of Industrial Design and UIS Systems Engineering who wish to improve their technical and communication skills to execute software development projects. “The expectations of professors and students are focused on the consolidation of academic and research relationships that allow joint projects to be carried out and the exchange of knowledge in the area,” commented Luis Eduardo Bautista, professor at the UIS School of Industrial Design.
