Considerations

The Universidad Industrial de Santander is interested in forming a list of candidates for adjunct professor in the common cycle.

The adjunct professor of the Universidad Industrial de Santander is a natural professional person with academic qualifications to develop exclusive activities in the mission of training, that is, as a full-time professor (40 hours per week). He/she is not a public employee, nor does he/she belong to the tenured faculty, nor is he/she an official worker. The subject direction activities of an adjunct professor may in no case be less than 22 hours per week during the regular academic period and intersemester or recess periods. These will include subject direction activities in intersemester courses, advanced courses, or non-degree courses, among others, offered according to the performance areas of the professor’s position; or professorial training or academic management support activities.

Any person who applies to be an adjunct professor at the Universidad Industrial de Santander must assume, with commitment and full awareness of their ethical and social responsibility, the role of guiding the learning process that supports the integral formation of students, according to the Pedagogical Model, which is defined as an agreement of the community of professors, students, directors, and other servants of the institution, on the principles and the way to implement the educational process at the Universidad Industrial de Santander.

  • Those interested in participating in the public call for the formation of the List of Candidates for Adjunct Professor Common Cycle will upload the documents and supports duly completed in the online form provided by the Academic Vice Rector’s Office in the microsite of the call. All the documentation submitted must be duly numbered, the supports must be organized chronologically from the most recent to the oldest.
  • In the stage corresponding to the verification of requirements, no type of equivalence between studies and experience will be applied.
  • The truthfulness and content of the appendixes will be the sole responsibility of the applicant and, in any case, the university reserves the right to verify the information provided by the applicant.

The public call for the formation of the List of Candidates for Occasional Professor Common Cycle seeks to recruit 26 full-time adjunct professors for the following profiles and locations:

ASSESMENT

Procedure

The procedure, evaluation, scoring and development of the public call for the formation of the List of Candidates for Temporary Professor Common Cycle will be governed by the provisions of the Regulations for the hiring of teaching staff in the modality of temporary professors, under the name “Temporary Professor Common Cycle”, approved by Agreement of the Superior Council No. 010 of February 14, 2022. The stages and tests of the public tender will be as follows:

    5. Each of the tests contemplated in the stages of the public tender are of an eliminatory nature, except for the interview and the evaluation of the résumé. Likewise, the candidate’s failure to take any of the tests shall be considered as voluntary withdrawal from the public tender.
After the deadline for receipt of resumes, the Committee for the Selection of Candidates for adjunct professor will verify compliance with the requirements. From this process, the Committee will prepare a report with the results that will be published on the institutional web page.
The Academic Vice Rector’s Office will schedule the psycho-technical test among the applicants who meet the requirements. The psycho-technical test will be conducted by an entity designated by the University. The psycho-technical test will be evaluated taking into account the following aspects:.

Day: Saturday, March 12, 2022 Place: CENTIC Time: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Applicants should note the following recommendations: (a) Be at CENTIC half an hour before the appointed time. b) Entrance to the university campus can be made through any of the three entrances (Cra.30, Cra.27 or Cra.25) and those who travel by car or motorcycle may use the parking lot located at the Alfonso Lopez Stadium free of charge. c) Have the time indicated in the above schedule (three hours). d) Bring identification document (ID) and black ink pen. e) Cell phones, bags, suitcases, briefcases, etc. are prohibited. Biosecurity measures: a) Permanent use of face mask. b) Maintain a social distance of at least 1 meter. c) To perform frequent hand disinfection. d) Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and commonly used objects such as handrails, turnstiles, etc. e) Avoid being accompanied during your route to and from the site. f) In case of presenting symptoms or being positive for COVID-19, refrain from attending the test and report your case to concurso@uis.edu.co to define the course of action and receive indications on how to proceed.

Applicants who pass the psycho-technical test must take the teaching session test in the terms and dates established in the call for applications.

Prior to the development of the teaching session, the candidate must submit the written proposal of the professor session defined as a pedagogical and didactic action alternative that aims to organize the teaching process to enhance learning and comprehensive training. For this purpose, the written proposal must define some theoretical bases of pedagogical, didactic and disciplinary order, from which previous knowledge is observed, teaching objectives and learning results are established, classroom activities and didactic instruments are organized and related, and the evaluation process is also established.

The characteristics of the written proposal for the professor’s session will be the following: a maximum of 8,000 characters, including bibliography, preferably Times New Roman font, 12, and APA Standards for citations and references.

To assign the score corresponding to the teaching session, factors such as: coherence with the Institutional Project and the UIS Pedagogical Model; the organization, coherence and relevance of the proposed learning environment and experiences in the mediation of the quality formative process; the use of language; the argumentative and creative capacity in the development of competencies for teaching, learning and evaluation in the construction of knowledge towards discovery or understanding; the validity of the concepts used, according to the rubric included in the following table, will be taken into account.

Applicants who pass the teaching session test will be summoned for the interview, which will be conducted exclusively by the Selection Committee for Candidates for adjunct professor common cycle. The interview will address aspects of the candidate related to personality, capacity for living

in community, tolerance, attitude towards teaching, ethics, rigor for work in the discipline and the ability to commit to the institutional mission and intellectual, professional and teaching development.

The Committee for the Selection of Candidates for the position of adjunct professor will evaluate the resumes of the candidates who passed the above tests and will formalize the results in the minutes of the Committee.
