About this
Unit
The Cultural Direction of Universidad Industrial de Santander is an institution that operates under the Academic Vice-Rectory. It serves as a convergence point for institutional activities that aim to shape and give meaning to university life through an open curriculum. It fosters an environment of active participation in the aesthetic and cultural experience and encourages civilized coexistence and modern citizenship practices. It provides a conducive space for the appreciation and understanding of various forms of artistic expression, promoting the value of diverse cultural forms.

To contribute to the development of the Universidad Industrial de Santander’s mission in the training of highly qualified people, ethically, politically and professionally, through the preservation and reinterpretation of culture and active participation.

To contribute to the fulfillment of the vision of the Universidad Industrial de Santander through the strengthening of culture, the comprehensive training of human talents and community activities, which are reflected in the improvement of the quality of life, international competitiveness and economic growth.

Portfolio
To grant the use through the rental of the Luis A. Calvo auditorium to public or private entities and legal or natural persons, for the realization of events and activities of academic, cultural, didactic or social nature that conform to the guidelines of the Institutional Project of the UIS.
To allow the use through the loan of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) artistic scenarios, which are required for the normal development of academic, recreational, artistic and cultural activities.
The artistic scenarios available are the Luis A. Calvo auditorium, Jorge Zalamea Hall, José Antonio Galán open-air auditorium, Rafael Prada Ardila exhibition hall and Gustavo Gómez Ardila Hall.
To offer the university community and the general public a varied cultural program per month throughout the year.

VECINOS Y AMIGOS
At UIS

The Universidad Industrial de Santander since 2016 opens the doors of its campus to welcome the families of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area, with the program Vecinos y Amigos at UIS, every Sunday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. In this event you can enjoy various recreational and cultural spaces.
Vecinos y Amigos at UIS is a cultural and recreational program organized by the Cultural Direction, which presents a tour through different scenarios of the university where reading workshops, language workshops, concerts, theater shows, circus, children’s games and health promotion activities, among others, take place.
Events every Sunday.

It is a space for the projection and dissemination of the audiovisual language of universal cinema. Every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. In the Rafael Prada Ardila Exhibition Hall of the Luis A. Calvo UIS Auditorium.

Cultural Direction of the Universidad Industrial de Santander presents every Thursday at the open air auditorium José Antonio Galán a varied program of performing arts: theater, dance and storytelling among others. Starting at 4:00 pm.

.Cultural Direction and Bienestar Estudiantil of the Universidad Industrial de Santander present Viernes Cultural, with the presentation of music, theater and dance artists. Every Friday at the Bienestar Campestre, university campus. Starting at 4:00 pm.

LOW MAUS
Lecture
.What are the risks and opportunities of the knowledge society, and what are the strengths and weaknesses that Colombians have in this society? This is the question that guides our Low Maus Lecture.
Objective: Generate and promote at UIS and in the region the academic debate on the knowledge society in Colombia.

.UIS Lecture seeks to offer a space for analysis, understanding and dialogic appropriation of the model of citizenship created and assumed by Colombian society, in articulation with the identity and the Institutional Project of the University (PI), with a retrospective approach (where we come from) and prospective (where we are going), which allows first level students to identify themselves as heirs of an educational and cultural heritage that they receive, and will recreate during the training process and in the exercise of the future profession.
