APPLICATION PROCESS FOR

Postgraduate Programmes

All applicants for specialization, medical-surgical specialization, master’s and doctoral degrees must submit the following documents within the registration period established by the respective postgraduate calendar approved by the Academic Council of the UIS.

  • Agreement 281 of August 15 2023, (only available in Spanish), approving the calls for admission to the master’s research and doctoral programmes for the first and second academic period of 2024.

  • Agreement 282 of August 15 2023, (only available in Spanish), approving the academic calendar of the research master’s and doctoral programmes for the first and second academic period of 2024.

  • Agreement 297 of September 13  2022, (only available in Spanish), approving the Academic Calendar of the Research Master’s and Doctoral Programs for the First and Second Academic Periods of 2023.

  • Agreement 274 of September 7  2020, (only available in Spanish), approving the Academic Calendar of the Research Master’s and Doctoral Programs for the First and Second Academic Periods of 2022.

  • Agreement 287 of August 18 2020, (only available in Spanish), approving the Academic Calendar of the Research Master’s and Doctoral Programs for the First and Second Academic Periods of 2021.

  • Agreement 215 August 13 2019, (only available in Spanish), which amends the Agreement of the Academic Council No. 281 of 2018, which approves the academic calendar of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs in Research for the first and second academic period of 2021. ° 281 of 2018, in the sense of including a first call for enrollment for doctoral programs, for the first academic period of 2020, to include candidates and project proposals to be submitted by the UIS to participate in the second cut of the call of the Science, Technology and Innovation Fund of the General System of Royalties for the conformation of a list of eligible projects to be made viable, prioritized and approved by the OCAD in the framework of the Bicentennial Doctoral Excellence Scholarship Program.

  • Agreement 280 of October 9 2018, (only available in Spanish), approving the Academic Calendar of the Research Master’s and Doctoral Programs for the First and Second Academic Periods of 2019.

  • Agreement 078 of April 17 2018, (only available in Spanish), modifying Academic Agreement No. 285 of November 7, 2017, which approved the Academic Calendar of the Research Master’s and Doctoral Programs for the First and Second Academic Periods of 2018.

  • Agreement 096 of April 24 2018, (only available in Spanish), which amends the academic calendar established by Academic Agreement No. 285 of November 7, 2017, for the Research Master’s and Doctoral Programs, only with respect to the dates established for the second academic term of 2018.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR

Admission

.

  • Application form duly completed and signed.

  • Curriculum vitae, in the form established by the institution, certificates and copies of documents that confirm what is described in it.

  • Copy of an identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.

  • Recent photo, preferably in digital format.

  • Copy of diploma or copy of  undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized university in Colombia. If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Colombia if the applicant is going to study a master’s degree in the area of health, law or any other area regulated by national regulations that require this administrative act.

  • Receipt of payment issued by the UIS Treasury for the current value of the enrollment fee or receipt of payment to the account authorized by the UIS.

For applicants to the master’s degree in law with a bachelor’s degree from a foreign university in one of the Andrés Bello Agreement countries, the validation requirement is not necessary.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FOR

Specialization

.

  • Application form duly completed and signed.

  • Curriculum vitae in the format established by the institution for this purpose (Appendix 1), accompanied by the certificates and copies of the documents that confirm the information contained therein.

  •  Copy of an identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.

  • Recent photograph, preferably in digital format.

  • Copy of diploma or copy of undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized higher education institution in Colombia. If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. Degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic.

  • Transcript of undergraduate grades required by the program, including GPA. This document is not required for UIS graduates.

  • Receipt of payment issued by the UIS Treasury for the current value of the enrollment fee or receipt of deposit to the account authorized by the UIS.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FOR

Medical-surgical specializations

.

  • Application form duly completed and signed.

  • Curriculum vitae, in the format established by the institution for this purpose (Appendix 1), with the attachment of certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described therein.

  • Copy of an identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.

  • Recent photograph, preferably in digital format.

  • Copy of diploma or copy of undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized higher education institution in Colombia. If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. Degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic.

  • Certificate of the grades obtained during the undergraduate studies in Medicine, with the mention of the GPA and the inclusion of information on the year of internship. If this document is issued in a foreign language, it must be duly translated into Spanish. It is not necessary to provide this document in the case of graduates with undergraduate degrees from the Universidad Industrial de Santander.

  • Professional medical card or resolution issued by the Ministry of Health, authorizing the holder to practice medicine in the national territory, after registering with the Santander Health Secretariat.

  • Certification of foreign language proficiency equivalent to or higher than level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, according to a standardized test or issued by the Language Institute of the UIS. This certificate is not required for applicants who are native speakers of a foreign language or who have obtained a university degree in a foreign language, as described in the corresponding documents.

  • Receipt of payment of the current value of the enrolment fee issued by the Universidad Industrial de Santander’s Finance Department or receipt of payment to the account authorized by the UIS.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS TO

Research Masters

.

  • All general admission requirements.

  • If required by the Admissions Committee, proof of reading comprehension and written production in Spanish, with the presentation of the Certificate of Approval issued by the UIS School of Languages. The value of the certificate or test is not included in the enrollment fee for the postgraduate program.

  • For Research Master’s degrees, a certificate of foreign language proficiency equivalent to or higher than level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, according to a standardized test or issued by the Language Institute of the UIS. This certificate is not required for applicants who are native speakers of a foreign language or who have a university degree in a foreign language, as described in the relevant documents.

  • Receipt of payment issued by the UIS Treasury for the current value of the psycho-technical test (if required) or receipt of payment to the authorized accounts.

  • Two (2) confidential letters of academic reference, in sealed envelopes, sent directly to the Postgraduate Coordination, according to the form established by the UIS.

  • Research Master’s Degrees: Letter of recommendation from a research group or center of the UIS or a scientific institution with which there is an agreement in force, signed by the director of the same and in which the applicant is introduced to the program.

  • In-depth master’s Degrees: Letter of support from a research group or center of the UIS or from a company or organization, signed by the legal representative of the same, presenting the applicant to the Postgraduate Program and stating that the application work can be proposed or carried out in such group or organization.

  • Other specific requirements of the program.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS TO

PhDs

.

  • All general admission requirements.

  • Transcripts of undergraduate grades with a GPA of three point fifty (3.50) or higher, and those from completed research or advanced master’s programs. In the case of UIS undergraduate graduates, this is not required.

  • At the discretion of the Admissions Committee, proof of reading comprehension and writing proficiency in Spanish, accompanied by a certificate of proficiency issued by the UIS Language Department. The value of the certificate or test is not included in the enrollment fee for the Postgraduate Program.

  • Certificate of foreign language proficiency equivalent to or higher than level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, according to a standardized test or issued by the Language Institute of the UIS. This certificate is not required for applicants who are native speakers of a foreign language or who have a university degree in a foreign language, as described in the relevant documents.

  • Three (3) confidential letters of academic reference, in sealed envelopes, sent directly to the Postgraduate Coordination, according to the form established by the UIS.

  • Letter of support from a research group or center of the UIS or a scientific institution with which there is an agreement in force, signed by the director of the same and in which the applicant is introduced to the program.

  • Other specific requirements of the program.

  2. Click on the “Registro” (Register) option

  • Fill in the data and select the option “Registrar”(register)

  • Do not use periods or commas in the ID number.

  • Keep the password in a safe place, it will be used in several processes.

  1. Click on the “Servicios” (Services) option

  • Select the program and verify the city where the program is available.

  • Download the registration receipt or make the online payment.

  • Wait 24 hours to continue with the Online Enrollment after making the payment.

Note 1: The forms corresponding to each program must be in PDF format with a size of less than 2Mb.

Note 2: The completed forms must also be sent to the corresponding e-mail address of the program.

  • Application form with 3*4 white background photo.

  • Resume format: resume (with supports), with a current photo, size 3*4 white background

  • Photocopy of identity card: both sides enlarged to 150%

  • Photocopy of diploma and undergraduate degree certificate

  • Photocopy of transcript of grades: only for students who completed their undergraduate studies outside the UIS
