The Ethics Committee in Scientific Research CEINCI-UIS was constituted according to the Agreement of the Superior Council No. 088 of 2012 (we annex the Agreement).

CEINCI is an advisory, consulting, decision-making and ethical monitoring body for research with living beings (humans, animals and plants), developed by the Industrial University of Santander in any area of knowledge.

Its objective is to ensure that scientific research complies with ethical principles.

Among the functions of CEINCI from which the services we offer are derived are:

RESOLUTION FUNCTION: Provides for the responsibilities of CEINCI for the analysis, review, evaluation, opinion or endorsement, and recommendation on ethical issues of research projects.

CONTROL AND MONITORINGFUNCTION: It gives continuity to the resolutions of the Committee, through the establishment of procedures for the surveillance of the projects in execution, information on inappropriate behavior, adverse events, among others.

EDUCATIONAL FUNCTION: It consists of promoting among its members and the staff of the institution the training in ethical matters in research. It is done at three levels: 1) within CEINCI, 2) teachers and students, 3) the community in general.

Conformation of CEINCI-UIS:

Vice-Rector for Research and Extension of the UIS or its representative.

Three professors of the Faculty of Health, with a career in research, one of whom must have the professional title of doctor.

A professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, preferably a lawyer with a track record in research.

A professor with a career in animal experimentation, preferably from the Faculty of Sciences.

A professor from the Faculties of Engineering.

A representative of the community.

A representative of the third-level health care institutions, with which the university has signed a Teaching Service Agreement.

Project monitoring professionals: Luz Contreras, Melba Varón, Claudia Meneses.

For the sessions of CEINCI, a President and Secretary are appointed, who also coordinate the administrative processes of the Committee.
