The Mathematics Research Group (GIM-UIS) seeks to promote and develop mathematics in the region, and to highlight the activities performed by mathematicians. It is composed of research professors and students of the School of Mathematics, who carry out studies in the following lines: General Topology, Set Theory, Functional Analysis, and Geometry. The members of the group publish regularly in world-renowned scientific journals, participate in national and international academic events, and direct graduate work in mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

GIM promotes partnerships with groups from other universities through collaborative projects and the realization of national and international events.
