The Research Group on Modeling and Simulation (SIMON) was founded in the late 80’s as part of the School of Systems Engineering and Computer Science of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), with the purpose of promoting the development of research projects in Systems Thinking and System Dynamics. In that sense, the group has been conducting several theoretical works on educational processes and, in particular, on informatics for education. SIMON stands out in the fields of Systems Thinking application and structural modeling with software environments in Computer Science for Education, Software Engineering, Epidemiology, Economics, Organizations, Agroindustry, Environmental Engineering, Astronomy, Chemical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering.
