The Human Genetics Research Group GENEHUIS has managed to consolidate different lines of research in human genetics, comprising not only the study of monogenic genetic disease but also polygenic, as well as continuing the study in the genetics part of human populations for autosomal markers and the Y chromosome. It counts on different groups of researchers already working in these areas such as UdeA, the Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Nacional de Colombia among others in the country. Their products are also being published in different national and international documents.

Its objectives include knowing the structure of the Santander population. Studying the molecular epidemiology of arterial hypertension; study the molecular epidemiology of dilated cardiomyopathy at the family level; study the molecular epidemiology of cancer in humans; to determine the carrier state in parents of children affected with innate Lesch Nyhan-type metabolic diseases. Evaluate chromosomal fragility in normal individuals not exposed to environmental or occupational toxins.
