The Research Group on Demographics, Public Health and Health Systems – GUINDESS – belongs to the Department of Public Health, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health, Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), Colombia. GUINDESS was created in May 2002 and registered with Colciencias with Code COL0023976. Since its inception, the purpose of GUINDESS responds to the formation of a group of professionals characterized by its high human, ethical and scientific quality. Its work philosophy is the search for knowledge and the implementation of actions that promote physical, mental, and social health, to prevent and control diseases and events of interest in public health to raise the standard of living of the population. In coherence, it aims to be one of the research groups, the leader in public health in the country, whose flag is the service and well-being of the population, managing to maintain the maximum category, A1, granted by Colciencias since 2015, as well as advance in new epistemological challenges to respond to public health problems through the generation of knowledge.
