ABOUT THE

Program

The Master’s Degree in Basic Biomedical Sciences, created in 2003 by professors from the Department of Basic Sciences and the School of Bacteriology and Clinical Laboratory of the Faculty of Health UIS, has a social commitment to the training of integral professionals, capable of generating knowledge that contributes to the prevention and treatment of diseases prevalent in the region and in the country, through the use of state-of-the-art tools and methodologies of biomedical research.

The basic biomedical sciences comprise the set of articulated knowledge that has as its object of study the physiological processes in health and disease and the relationship of man with the environmental environment. His main interest is the generation of knowledge through scientific research at the biological and molecular level. They constitute the basis for the permanent development of scientific reasoning and its application in the field of clinical work in the different areas of health, aimed at the prevention, diagnosis and / or treatment of specific diseases. They include knowledge in a wide spectrum: biophysics, cell biology, anatomy, biochemical chemistry, physiology, neurosciences, genetics, immunology, parasitology, pharmacology and epidemiology, addressing problems related to health and disease.
