Our
History
On the first of March 1948, the work of Universidad Industrial de Santander was officially inaugurated in the courtyard of the Dámaso Zapata Industrial School, located at the northern end of the Bucaramanga plateau. For the year of 1977, the organizational structure of the University, introduces a novel change in its organizational chart, by creating the Directorate of University Services, to which was attached the center of Physical Plant conformed by two sections called “Miscellaneous Services” and “Maintenance of Physical Plant”, who offered his services under this organization during the first five years of its creation.
The decade of the eighties began with the new framework of action established by Decree Law 80 of 1980, which forced a new administrative reform under the administration of Orlando Diaz Gomez, who from 1982 modified its organizational structure creating the Division of University Services, to which the Physical Plant Section was annexed.
On the decade of the nineties in the administration of Jorge Gómez Duarte, a new renewal impulse in the university is achieved through the creation of the Regionalization Program of the UIS, forcing the institution to carry out a new administrative reform, who for the year of 1994 converts the section of Physical Plant in Division, being assigned in direction and dependence to the Administrative Vice-Rectory.
