Minciencias Classification: A

The Research Group in Minerals, Biohydrometallurgy, and Environment (GIMBA) is part of the Faculty of Physicochemical Engineering at the Universidad Industrial de Santander. It is composed of an interdisciplinary team of researchers, professors, and undergraduate and graduate students, whose research spans various fields of knowledge related to Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, and Microbiology. The group engages in diverse scientific and technological development projects, as well as advisory and consulting activities. A key component of the group is the Mining-Metallurgical and Environmental Chemical Services Laboratory, which provides services for different matrices in water, soil, and hazardous solid waste.
