The interdisciplinary group GLOTTA, from the School of Languages at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), considers didactics to be one of the pillars of teacher education. The members of the group seek to ensure that research in the disciplinary areas (linguistics, literature, and languages) strengthens the didactic reflections that are essential to the training of teachers in the northeastern region of Colombia.
GLOTTA began its academic activities toward the end of 2009 and has Student Research Groups led by specialists in Didactics, Discourse and Image Analysis, Literature, Cultural Studies, and Translation. The group has initiated its outreach activities at the UIS Library and in public schools that have teaching practice agreements with the School of Languages.

Germinario. These are short-term courses designed to develop an extracurricular training cycle focused on the theoretical and practical exploration of the academic, scientific, and literary editorial field, as a complement to the professional profile of the undergraduate programs offered by the School of Languages at the Universidad Industrial de Santander.

This project offers free French extension courses for those who wish to learn or practice French and explore Francophone cultures, either as an introduction to the language and its cultures or as practice depending on the participant’s level. Language Week. This is an annual event organized by the School of Languages, where participants engage in dialogue and reflection on culture, literature, and languages. Some activities include conversation sessions, forums, and lectures. The event brings together the university community (faculty, students, graduates) and external experts. - International Mother Language Day and National Day of Native Languages. This annual event aims to celebrate International Mother Language Day and the National Day of Native Languages as part of the recognition of the linguistic and cultural diversity of the country and other invited nations. It also seeks to contribute to the ongoing task of education—especially in universities—of addressing current challenges related to diversity and interculturality. The event is organized by the professors and students of the Plurilingualism and Interculturality program of the School of Languages, in collaboration with other university departments.
