The Group in Optimization and Organization of Productive, Administrative and Logistic Systems (OPALO) was founded in 2015 after some professors decided to formalize their association in common lines of work and join efforts to generate new knowledge and effective solutions in industrial engineering, thus strengthening the research process within the School of Industrial and Business Studies.

The group is composed of undergraduates, master’s students, full professors, chair professor and researchers, who provide their experience, time, and dedication to perform high-quality scientific production, consolidating their lines of research in the development of optimization models, simulations, Big Data Analytics, and smart manufacturing, focusing on solving problems related to productive, administrative and logistics systems. As a result of the contributions made in these areas, the group maintains B category of the MinCiencias scale.
