ABOUT THE
Program
The Master’s program in Petroleum and Gas Engineering is the complement in the different areas of training offered by the School of Petroleum Engineering, contributing to the generation of knowledge, developing a program that will allow future provide solutions to the problems that arise daily in the hydrocarbons industry, equipping them with skills and tools to improve and make each of the different field operations more efficient, improving the profitability of the projects, allowing greater social and economic impact in the regions where the industry is concentrated.

The Master’s program in Petroleum and Gas Engineering offers five areas to deepen:

It offers the possibility for the student to opt for one of the areas of deepening covering the needs of the country, related to mature fields, offshore drilling, unconventional deposits, petrophysics, and operational processes in the production field.

The Master in Oil and Gas Engineering at the Universidad Industrial de Santander, is a professional with the capacity to plan, lead, formulate, evaluate and execute projects in the area of hydrocarbons for the development of the industry at the national level and international; he is an ethical person, with a high sense of social responsibility, committed to the community and to the care of the environment. For which:
Analyses and evaluates the global and national environment as a basis for developing strategies that contribute to the development of the hydrocarbons sector
It uses engineering tools for the formulation, planning and execution of projects that contribute to the development of the sector
Recognizes and applies the potential of technology in the hydrocarbons business
Proposes alternatives to solve the problems that arise in the hydrocarbons industry, making efficient use of physical, human and financial resources with social and environmental responsibility
Designs and evaluates investment programs and alternatives for the development of the hydrocarbons sector contributing to the social and economic progress of the region and the country
Analyze environmental and safety risks and make sound and timely decisions against them

The Master's Degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering is the object of knowledge in the development, exploitation, treatment, transport and marketing of hydrocarbons. Under the different areas of deepening will allow to transfer and contribute to science and technology, so that the solutions respond to the specific needs for the sustainable and efficient achievement of the country's hydrocarbons industry.
The Master of Oil and Gas Engineering will be able, among many other things, to: optimize or make the most of existing technologies, assimilate and build knowledge to solve the fluctuating needs of the hydrocarbons industry and generate technological alternatives of impact on the development of the hydrocarbons sector, to face the new challenges in the different areas of deepening that favor the growth of the country's hydrocarbon sector.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
- Resume, it has to be done in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of the certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
- Photocopy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
- Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
- Photocopy of the diploma or Photocopy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized HEI in Colombia.
- Notice 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language.
- Notice 2: The degrees must be validated by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional of the Republic of Colombia in case the applicant is going to study a master’s degree in the area of health, law or any other area regulated by national regulations that require this administrative act.
- Certificate of the grades obtained during undergraduate studies, with a weighted average equal to or higher than three point fifty (3.50), and those of the research or in-depth master’s degree programs completed.
- Notice 3: In the case of UIS undergraduate alumni, it is not necessary to provide it.
- Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
