UIS International Percussion Festival
The UIS International Percussion Festival, is an academic event that aims to publicize artistic content of a high professional level and some proposals of didactic concerts to a specific population that has not experienced this type of performance. For this reason, it includes symphonic music concerts based on Colombian, Latin American and other countries’ folklore. Likewise, it is broadcast in its entirety through virtual channels.
This free event brings together educators, interpreters, composers and researchers in a space for exchange, debate and collaborative learning, where the main element of mediation in this musical proposal is rhythm, which with a generally unknown instrument, allows the public to intervene in a direct way with each of the musical proposals.
Trombone Week
The UIS Trombone Week aims to consolidate musical and cultural spaces for reflection and critical training, open to the entire UIS academic community and to all trombonists of the city, the region and the country free of charge. Every year, our event takes place within the framework of the invitation made by the International Trombone Association (ITA) to all the universities and conservatories of the world to join this celebration, which has been held for 18 years without interruption. In this sense, the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) -through its Bachelor of Music program and its Trombone, Euphonium and Tuba class- participates in this academic and musical event, with the purpose of promoting and showing the different processes of brass instruments in general.
UIS Music Research Conference
The First UIS Music Research Conference “Education, creation and performance: from academia to social media” is an academic event for the dissemination and reflection of proposals related to education, creation and performance, in contexts of higher education, basic education and non-formal education.
This free event brings together educators, performers, composers and researchers in a space for exchange, debate and collaborative learning, where -in addition to recognizing the diversity of musical, artistic and educational practices- research is presented and developed as an articulating axis.
