ABOUT THE
Program
The Master’s Degree in Sports Talent Development is an interdisciplinary proposal of the Department of Physical Education and Sports that, with the support of 14 research groups and a research center, aims to offer a solid training in scientific and methodological knowledge to solve problems related to the development of sports talent from the pedagogical perspective of the sports training process. The program has three lines of research: Sports Talent, Sports Training and Applied Sports Sciences, which will allow the development of the student’s application work and research experience within the framework of the training process.

Profile

The applicant to the Master’s program in Sports Talent Development at the Universidad Industrial de Santander will be a professional who:
Have knowledge of the biological, physical, social and human sciences, essential to develop studies linked to the sports training process that contribute to the development of sports talent from a comprehensive perspective.
Possess basic technical and procedural skills in scientific research.
Be able to address the problems that arise in their professional work, applying the principles, methods and techniques necessary both for the systematic and methodological teaching of sport, at the different educational levels, as well as in the stages of sports training.
Have the ability to work in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary groups, evidencing an ethical, analytical, critical and problem-solving attitude that contributes to the development of sports talent.
Make use of technological tools that allow you to enhance learning.
Possess elements of professional training in the areas of education, health, sports and other related areas, as well as attitudes, aptitudes and values focused on an ethical environment.

Profile

The graduate of the Master’s program in Sports Talent Development of Universidad Industrial de Santander in coherence with the institutional mission will be a person of high ethical, political and professional quality, with comprehensive training, ability to assume the challenges of a globalized context, committed to democracy and environmental sustainability, through the acquisition and structuring of macro competencies, such as:
Investigates and analyzes multidisciplinary information, from various quality sources and linked to the development of sports talent.
Bases the process of development of sports talent based on the review of the scientific and updated literature.
Compares the development of sports talent based on the study of pedagogical, anatomo-physiological, psychosocial, theoretical and technical components.
Prepares training plans based on methodological indications that are established with solid scientific bases and the characteristics of the athletes.
Coordinates the work of multidisciplinary groups involved in the process of developing sports talent during the different stages of training.
Designs intervention methodologies of a disciplinary, interdisciplinary or professional nature in accordance with the development of sports talent and taking into account the sports training process.
Processes and analyzes statistical data from descriptive and inferential statistics for decision-making in the process of developing sports talent.
Establishes the conditions for the protection of confidential information and identity during the processing of personal data, taking into account respect for human dignity.
Understand that assertive and respectful communication between coach-athletes and between athletes is established inside and outside the sports training process as a resource for the integral formation of the athlete.

It is highlighted that the graduate of the Master’s program in Sports Talent Development develops competencies that enable them to perform professionally at the national or regional level in:
University Academic Programs corresponding to the Basic Core of Knowledge of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of Universities as teachers and researchers.
Ministry of Sport, Colombian Olympic Committee, Departmental and Municipal Sports Institutes, Sports Federations, Sports Leagues, Sports Clubs and Sports Training Schools as Administrators, Methodologists, Sports Coaches or Physical Trainers of sports teams at municipal, departmental or national level.
Sports and Physical Activity Research Centers such as the Sports Science Center (CCD) of the Ministry of Sport, which has five specialized laboratories at the service of high-performance athletes (Clinical Laboratory, Kineanthropometry Laboratory, Neuroscience Laboratory, Biomechanics Laboratory and Physiology Laboratory).
Higher Education Institutions and Colleges such as Physical Education Teachers or Sports Team Coaches.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
- Resume, it has to be done in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of the certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
- Photocopy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
- Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
- Photocopy of the diploma or Photocopy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized HEI in Colombia.
- Notice 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language.
- Notice 2: The degrees must be validated by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional of the Republic of Colombia in case the applicant is going to study a master’s degree in the area of health, law or any other area regulated by national regulations that require this administrative act.
- Certificate of the grades obtained during undergraduate studies, with a weighted average equal to or higher than three point fifty (3.50), and those of the research or in-depth master’s degree programs completed.
- Notice 3: In the case of UIS undergraduate alumni, it is not necessary to provide it.
- Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
SPECIFICS REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS PROGRAM
- Notice A: All the documents listed above must have a digital version in PDF in order to complete the online registration process.
- Notice B: All documents must be submitted physically. To hand the documents in, please go to the postgraduate office of the program in the city where you wish to take the academic program or to the offices of the entity with which the UIS has an agreement with.
- Notice C: When physical documents are submitted, additional documents that you consider relevant for the admission must be attached.
