ABOUT THE
Program
The Universidad Industrial de Santander offers this program of surgical medical specialization, given the importance of Pathology as a branch of medicine in the context of care, scientific and legal conceiving it as an integral specialty due to the different fields of knowledge that constitute it, which make it different from any other surgical medical specialty. In addition, the UIS is the only institution of higher education of Colombian northeastern with the infrastructure and human resources that, an interinstitutional agreement with the Hospital Universitario de Santander, make it feasible for its development and execution in the region. The relevance of the program is based on the demand for the services of the pathologist by the different institutions and companies that provide health, judicial, and university not only from the area of influence but from the rest of the country and even outside Colombia.

Profile
The graduate applicant of the specialization in Pathology is a graduate doctor, who will dedicate the three years of the program, full time to this activity. It should be noted for its high study capacity and academic level coupled with the personal motivation towards understanding the basic sciences and their relationship to the disease processes, physiological and anatomical changes that these cause.
In addition, your attitude of service and inclination towards research will allow you to ask research questions aimed at solving the health problems of the population.

Profile
Specialist physician of high academic level characterized by his ability to observe, analyze and synthesize, qualities that allow him to study the causes, mechanism, natural evolution of diseases, and morphological changes in the cells, tissues, organs, and systems involved in them. Its purpose is to diagnose diseases based on the study of extended cytological, biopsies, surgical specimens, scientific autopsies, and legal medical autopsies.
They will develop his field of action in Private Pathology Laboratories and State Social Enterprises, whose roles will be those of diagnostic support, promoter in health prevention, university teacher, medical consultant, and justice advisor, as well as a member of multidisciplinary teams with which they will develop research aimed at finding solutions to health problems that most often affect the Colombian community and the world.

Pathology is the medical specialty responsible for explaining the evolution of the disease through the scientific interpretation of the modifications it produces in the cells, tissues, organs, and systems that make up the human organism, which is why it integrates under a morphological vision the knowledge provided by the basic sciences such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry, with the various surgical medical specialties, which is why knowledge of its basic aspects is a priority in the process of pre and post-graduate medical training. Through his scientific medical acting, the specialist in Pathology in both Colombia and the rest of the world intervenes in advocacy and prevention, diagnostic support, teaching and continuing medical education, scientific and judicial research, and epidemiological surveillance.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
- Resume, it has to be done in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of the certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
- Photocopy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
- Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
- Photocopy of the diploma or photocopy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized HEI in Colombia.
- Notice 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The degrees must be validated by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional de la República.
- Certificate of grades obtained during undergraduate studies in Medicine, with the mention of the weighted average and the inclusion of information about the year of internship.
- Notice 2: If this document is issued in a foreign language, it must be duly translated into Spanish.
- Notice 3: It is not necessary to provide this document in the case of alumni with undergraduate degrees obtained at Universidad Industrial de Santander.
- Professional medical card or resolution issued by the Ministry of Health, which authorizes him/her to practice medicine in the national territory, after registration with the Santander Health Secretariat.
- Certification of foreign language level equivalent to or higher than level A1 according to the CEFR for languages, according to standardized test or issued by the UIS Language Institute.
- Notice 4: This certification will not be required for those applicants who are native speakers of a foreign language or who have obtained a university degree in a foreign language, according to the description of such studies in the corresponding documents.
- Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
