Minciencias Classification : B
The group, initially comprised of five professors from the School of Biology and their students, was established in September 1999 and formalized with its presentation to COLCIENCIAS in the research group call of the year 2000. In this call, the group obtained the promising C category.
In the calls of 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2011, it has been classified as an A research group. Since 2010, it has been categorized as A1 group. In the last call in 2022, it was categorized as B due to the lack of doctoral graduates, which we hope to achieve in a short time to regain the maximum categorization we previously held.
The program of Minciencias to which it is affiliated is the Basic Sciences program. The thematic area that encompasses its lines of research is Biodiversity.
