The Research Group on Construction Materials and Structures (INME), classified in Category A by Colciencias, actively participates in the training activities of the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the School of Civil Engineering, as well as other graduate programs related to its field of expertise at Universidad Industrial de Santander.
The group provides support and services to the construction sector in the areas of structures, geotechnics, and materials, particularly in the following research lines: Resilience and sustainability; structural analysis, modeling, and optimization; construction project management; and construction materials. The group also actively participates in research projects in the field of engineering education.

The group continuously strives to contribute to new knowledge in the field of civil construction. Its main purpose is to serve the community, the region, and the country by advancing academia, research, science, and technology in its areas of expertise—specifically, in the use of materials under the principles of sustainability, providing reasonable solutions to help reduce the country’s significant housing deficit and to ensure more durable and resistant civil works. The group is also committed to promoting a research-oriented spirit within the university community in the field of construction.
