INME actively participates in training activities in undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the School of Civil Engineering and other graduate programs, related to its field of expertise from other academic units of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). The group provides support and advisory services to the construction sector in the areas of structures, geotechnical engineering and materials, particularly in the following lines of research: resilience and structural sustainability, structural analysis, modeling and optimization, project management in engineering and construction materials. Likewise, the group actively participates in research projects related to engineering education.

The group continuously seeks to provide new knowledge in the field of civil construction. Its main purpose is to serve the community, the region, and the country by making academic, research, scientific, and technological contributions, specifically in the use of materials under the principles of sustainability. In this sense, it offers reasonable solutions to the country’s large housing deficit and ensures the construction of more durable and resistant civil works.In addition, it is committed to the promotion of research spirit in the field of construction within the university community.
