Geomática has become a reference research and outreach group for the region, due to the legacy of its excellent and constant work. Its main purpose is to provide concrete solutions to specific problems in different sectors of Colombian society. In this sense, the group has participated on projects that contribute to the development of the central-eastern region of the country, promoting innovation and application of new technologies in the management, analysis and distribution of geospatial data required in decision-making processes. Geomática has directed about 250 undergraduate projects and conducted more than 30 scientific and technological consultancies to public sector entities.
