ABOUT THE
Program
The object of knowledge of the Specialization program in General Surgery are pathologies which involve the mechanical manipulation of anatomical structures with a diagnostic as well as therapeutic objective in the care of the injured or traumatized human being or the one that presents a pathology that requires its removal, correction, derivation or transplantation.

The graduates of specialization program in General Surgery are ideal professionals with the knowledge, skills, and development necessary to prevent, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate surgical diseases in general, within the ethical, bioethical, and humanistic principles of the profession. They have sufficient knowledge of current health legislation and administrative procedures that allow the sustainable exercise of the specialty.

General Surgery Specialists have a huge field of action, as they can participate in any of the stages of health care. Their role in community education is important in aspects such as trauma and accident prevention, prevention and promotion of cancer, occupational diseases, etc. However, it is in the diagnosis and treatment of surgical pathology, especially in the most frequently occurring and socio-labor cost areas, that they play their best role.

Additionally, to facilitate access to postgraduate programs, the UIS has signed various agreements with entities specialized in educational credit. These agreements seek facilities and better credit conditions for UIS students. * Students who have the voting certificate from the last popular election process in Colombia may request a 10% discount on tuition fees. |

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
- Resume, it has to be done in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of the certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
- Photocopy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
- Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
- Photocopy of the diploma or photocopy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by a recognized HEI in Colombia.
- Notice 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The degrees must be validated by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional de la República.
- Certificate of grades obtained during undergraduate studies in Medicine, with the mention of the weighted average and the inclusion of information about the year of internship.
- Notice 2: If this document is issued in a foreign language, it must be duly translated into Spanish.
- Notice 3: It is not necessary to provide this document in the case of alumni with undergraduate degrees obtained at Universidad Industrial de Santander.
- Professional medical card or resolution issued by the Ministry of Health, which authorizes him/her to practice medicine in the national territory, after registration with the Santander Health Secretariat.
- Certification of foreign language level equivalent to or higher than level A1 according to the CEFR for languages, according to standardized test or issued by the UIS Language Institute.
- Notice 4: This certification will not be required for those applicants who are native speakers of a foreign language or who have obtained a university degree in a foreign language, according to the description of such studies in the corresponding documents.
- Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
